Not just sea and lagoon, but also the inland Veneto area: just 45 km from Caorle is Treviso and the whole of its province. It is a place that is easy to reach and full of areas to discover. These begin in the historic centre of Treviso, with its splendid frescoed homes, porticoes and canals where the water of the Sile runs, past natural oases and old mills. Its heart is piazza Dei Signori, set against the Palace of the Prefecture (built between 1874 - 1877) and the imposing Civic Tower. But there is also the Thirteenth Century Palace, built at the beginning of 1200; Palazzo del Podestà and the long road underneath the porticoes that goes from Piazza dei Signori, to the old cathedral. Ancient Roman walls enclose the city and today almost 4 km of these are still visible. Don’t miss the Casa dei Carraresi, a 14th century inn that today hosts international exhibitions. Moving towards the Marca of Treviso, something else not to be missed are the 100 wine routes. These start in Eastern Veneto and stretch as far as the hills where, around patrician villas, there are hectares of magnificent vineyards, with traditional routes for ‘white wine’, including Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, and the reds of the Right Piave. There are also spiritual itineraries, in search of monasteries and sanctuaries, many of which are present in the province, as well as itineraries to discover red chicory from Treviso, which grows in the Southern part of this vast area.
